Challenges...

First, I want to agree that one of the most challenges to us, future physical therapists is to be considere in the society and that they can know that we not only do massages, this great career spans more than that.

My mother is a physical therapist and she told me that in general the people dont know so much about this career, they prefer go to doctor, or for example if a guy have a scoliosis the doctor said him that he need a corset or directly an operation. Some doctors not trust in the results of the treatment of the physical therapists. We have to prove that we get really good results and we can making life better for people.

Another point is to teach people to feel the body and take account of it. I think that is very important because you can avoid problems of breaks, sprains or muscle tear. My mother teach me that, and now I have a notion of the bad postures and positions that we adopt daily and contribute to cause injury to us.

The education is a relevant factor to resolve in the future. I think that there are only few careers that the students in the school know, generally the carees that contributed more money(this is not a specific problem of phisical therapy in specific). If the people dont know us we cant help them.

Finally, and not less relevant, I think that a good relation physical therapist-patient is linked to a better treatment. A pleasent meeting contribute to have a better response of the patient: exercises regulary, willingness to work, etc.

We need more people interested in this carrer and not people that study this because they want to be doctors but they couldnt have the possibility to be one. We need more technology to have a better treatment to patients with reduced movility, like prosthesis. We have to try to extend the work area. We have to be know!
